Icom komt met de IC-5100

Icom heeft gisteren een nieuwe zendontvanger aangekondigd, de IC-5100. Dit is een dual-band mobiele VHF en UHF zender en werkt op zowel FM als op D-Star.

Opvallend is dat de set is uitgerust met een touchscreen zoals Icom eerder introduceerde op de IC-7100.

Er komt een 20 Watt en een 50 Watt uitvoering op de markt.

Een nieuwe functie is dat de set in staat is om automatisch lokale repeaters te vinden. Hoe dit technisch in zijn werk gaat en of dit voor FM of D-star is maakt Icom nog niet bekend in het persbericht. Daarnaast komt er voor Android telefoons een applicatie beschikbaar om de set remote te bedienen. Er is een bluetooth headset beschikbaar wanneer de zendontvanger met de optionele VS-3 dongle uitgevoerd wordt. Een GPS-ontvanger is ingebouwd in het display alsook een ingebouwde TNC. Daarmee heeft deze Icom veel weg van de Kenwood TM-D710G die onlangs geintroduceerd werd, met als extra ondersteuning voor D-star.

• RS-MS1A Android application will be a free to use download. It controls the radio for DR mode operation, exchanging text messages/pictures and showing GPS location over Google Maps.

• Independent VHF and UHF band units (VV/UU capable) for 50W output
• Enhanced DR mode (also include analogue repeaters)
• Added “Nearby Repeater Scan” in DR scan function
• D-Plus reflector usability (can select “reflector” in TO field)
• DV Dual Watch for simultaneously waiting in two DV voice streams (decodes one only)
